GREGG LIVESAY LEAVES THAT GREETING FOR YOU...

GREGG LIVESAY / LIVESAY

After the break up of the New York based local band known as Vandal, Gregg Livesay, Vandals featured guitarist, decided he had enough. Year after year joining other people's projects, only to watch them disband, made him reevaluate his music career. He finally came to the conclusion it was time to strike out on his own.

In February of 1991, he started recruiting other musicians to form his own band. He would then form the all-original progressive rock band known today as LIVESAY. Gregg himself had begun classical training at the age of thirteen. Playing for twenty-three years, he has been part of many popular circuit bands such as Saintly Sinner, Silent Listener and Vandal. He has appeared prior to LIVESAY on two compilation albums and two four song EP's, all released in the U.S. and Europe. Known throughout the local club circuit, he is highly respected as a great guitarist. Gregg's ability to play lightning fast leads with accuracy and finesse has caused the audiences to stand in awe.

Filling the role of drummer for the band was the easiest choice for Gregg. Keith "Bam Bam" Michaels was the power behind Vandal and was well known musically as a cross between John Bonham and Tommy Aldridge. He has one of the heaviest snare sounds of any area drummer; combining thunderous fills with taste and precision. Having played in numerous local original bands, such as Four In Hand, Kyng's Rage and Vandal, Keith has also spent years on the club circuit with cover bands such as Skin Flixx, No Break's, Likity Split, The Groove Monsters and The Bad Boys.. His experience in studio recording, live performances, teaching and the music business in general, make him a crucial element of LIVESAY.

Next came keyboardist Tony Stahl. Raised on music, Tony's abilities go far beyond keyboards. Playing guitar, bass and violin are just a few talents he has honed for himself Playing with Keith in Kyng's Rage cemented a friendship that made his joining LIVESAY an easy decision. Coming from a diverse background of musical taste, Tony has limitless ideas in writing and arrangements. His knowledge of recording was a huge asset during the making of their debut CD and his sound has brought LIVESAY'S music in full circle.

After the recent departure of original vocalist Pete White, LIVESAY was forced to search for a new lead voice. The search was short and in came vocalist Anthony Cross. Hailing from the Bronx, Anthony has been in the local band circuit since 1985. Performing with mostly original rock acts such as Freefall, Black Roze, Belfire, Nobody's Fool and last with cover band Strange Behavior, He has proven to have the versatility, vocal range, stage presence and creativity that is needed for LIVESAY to enter the new millennium.

After several delays such as Tropical Storm Floyd, other acts of nature and the departure of long time friend and original bassist Pete Ronda, Livesay was faced with restructuring the rhythm section weeks before the start of production of their forth coming CD "Darkest Hour". Enter Alan Mark! Born and raised in the Bronx, Alan's ties to Livesay go back many years. Aside from being a founding member of Saintly Sinner, tearing up the stage in the middle 80's with Gregg, he also was part of local acts, Nobodys Fool and Strange Behavior, with whom Anthony Cross was the lead vocalist before his inception into Livesay. Alan's thunderous bass sound, energetic stage presence and story telling lyrics will add to the promising future of the Livesay project.

New York based Livesay is a prime example of a band that has flown under the proverbial radar and has self-sustained 4 incredible albums – Livesay – S/T (1996), Darkest Hour (2000), Awaken the Giant (2010) and Frozen Hell (2016). Livesay is not a novice to the big stage and has opened for a multitude of hard rocks premier acts such as Ronnie James Dio, Y&T, Dokken, Lynch Mob, Ratt, Thin Lizzy, Vince Neil, Sebastian Bach, Quiet Riot, Michael Schenker, UFO, Fates Warning and many others. In addition to appearing at the Rock N’ Skull Festival 2 years in a row, they have headlined many times as well. With very little major backing, it’s been a willingness and belief that has driven this band.

Livesay’s sound is not easily classified; musical diversity is what powers these guys. It can best be described as Neo-Classical, Melodic, Hard Rock meshed with Progressive elements that combined, deliver a sonic, dream symphony. The band draws influences & inspiration from the likes of Yngwie Malmsteen, Classic Deep Purple, Racer X, Early Dream Theater and Early Fates Warning. With a magnitude of melodic, catchy hooks and vocal harmonies to the dark, mystical, heavy, technical progression, there is something for every rock genre to latch onto.

The new album titled “Chronicles” features 13 Tracks that bring the history of Livesay full-circle. From the earliest unreleased material from 1992's Demo "Live & Let Rock", to the best of 1996 – 2016 and culminating with the brand new track and single, “International Man" Featuring New Vocalist Mike Gill, this album is certain to draw the attention of hard rock fans no matter what their taste.

JIMMY PITTS LEAVES THAT GREETING FOR YOU...

Jimmy Pitts has performed a diverse array of music, ranging from the frenetic metal and technicality of Spastic Ink, NYN, Scholomance, and Equipoise, to the anthemic power metal of Northtale, Eternity’s End, and Eynomia, along with forays into Jazz fusion, Classical, Rock, World music, & the avant garde. As a keyboardist and pianist, the primary goal Jimmy has is to explore the widest variety of genres possible, and experiment with combining those varied influences in interesting and moving ways. Having played on over 50 albums, many of them as a guest soloist or collaborative partner, Jimmy finds his primary home as a composer in The Fractured Dimension and Pitts Minnemann Project, and counts Northtale (Nuclear Blast records) and Eternity’s End (Ram it Down records), two power metal super groups, as his primary official bands. Jimmy has also been featured on albums alongside such musicians as Marco Minnemann, Marty Friedman, Bobby Jarzombek, Chris Poland, Ray Riendeau, Michael Manring, and many more legendary virtuosos.

In addition to all of his studio commitments, Jimmy Pitts has performed live at the Detroit Jazz Fest with the late Mikhal Caldwell, as a member of the solo band of Vitalij Kuprij, of Trans-Siberian Orchestra fame, at death metal fests in Minneapolis and Iowa, and in many regional acts in his home state of Missouri. He has also warmed up for such acts as King’s X, Mike Stern, Marbin, Eric Sardinas, and recently appeared at the Sabaton Open Air and Evoken festivals with Northtale. Next up he will be performing at ProgPower in Atlanta in August 2020.

As a prolific studio musician, Jimmy has been featured on over 50 album, various compilations, soundtrack work, commercial scoring, and as an educator at Pellegrino’s School of Music in Springfield, MO.

Some of Jimmy’s recent accomplishments include Equipoise reaching the Billboard Heat Seekers chart within a week of being released, performing at the Detroit Jazz Festival alongside his heroes such as Ravi Coltrane, getting signed to Nuclear Blast records with Northtale with only a single released to the world, and being able to have a successful career, touching many music fans throughout the world, many of whom Jimmy stays in touch with via his social media presence. GREG HETSON LEAVES THAT GREETING FOR YOU...

Greg Hetson (born June 29, 1961) is an American guitarist. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and has lived in the Los Angeles area since he was 2 years old. Active since 1979, Hetson is best known as the guitarist for the influential hardcore punk bands Redd KrossCircle Jerks and Bad Religion. He is known for his high energy stage antics which people have coined the term "The Hetson Leap ". He was a founding member of and also plays guitar in another supergroup, Punk Rock Karaoke and the hard core punk band G.F.P.

The Circle Jerks (1980–present)

In 1980, Hetson abandoned his position as guitarist of the punk/alternative band Redd Kross to form The Circle Jerks with former Black Flag vocalist Keith Morris. Soon after, they released their debut LP, Group Sex and in 1980 were featured in the Los Angeles documentary The Decline of Western Civilization along with several other Los Angeles punk bands.

In 1982, The Circle Jerks released their second album Wild in the Streets. This album, while popular, did not sell nearly as much as their third LP Golden Shower of Hits, released in 1983.

While Bad Religion was on hiatus, the Circle Jerks continued touring and recorded two more albums (Wonderful and VI) before breaking up in 1990. However, they reformed in 1994 and released Oddities, Abnormalities and Curiosities, their last album to date, a year later. Hetson would continue to play for both Bad Religion and The Circle Jerks. Despite having not released a full-length album since 1995 (although they did release a new song, "I'm Gonna Live", on MySpace in 2007), the Circle Jerks have been playing live occasionally over the years, with the exception of two more hiatuses, one from 1995 to 2001, and another from 2011 to 2019.

Bad Religion (1984–2013)

Greg Hetson was credited on Bad Religion's album How Could Hell Be Any Worse? for playing the solo for the song Part III. His first (official) release with Bad Religion was the Back to the Known EP, released in 1985, which declared the band's return to their original punk sound after releasing the highly unsuccessful, progressive rock album Into the Unknown, after which the band disbanded.

After the release of Back to the Known, Bad Religion broke up for a second time, but reformed in 1986 with the How Could Hell Be Any Worse? line-up and Hetson was included. Bad Religion recorded their first three highly acclaimed reunion albums, SufferNo Control and Against the Grain, before drummer Pete Finestone quit the band in 1991.

Bad Religion replaced Finestone with Bobby Schayer, then recorded their next album, Generator. The album was completed in the spring of 1991, but the band was forced to delay its release until a year later. For the album, Bad Religion also filmed their first music video "Atomic Garden", which was also their first song to be released as a single. In 1993, the band left their original label Epitaph Records and signed to Atlantic Records, who released their next album Recipe for Hate. While moderately successful, this was the first Bad Religion album to reach any Billboard charts and two videos for the album, "American Jesus" and "Struck a Nerve", were made.

The band's popularity grew in 1994 with their widely successful album Stranger Than Fiction, including their well-known hits "Infected" and "21st Century (Digital Boy)", which are often considered concert staples. After the album was completed, longtime guitarist Brett Gurewitz soon left Bad Religion to concentrate on the future of Epitaph, citing the increasing amount of time he was spending at Epitaph's offices as The Offspring became one of the biggest bands of the mid-1990s, but it was well known that his departure was not on good terms.

Gurewitz was replaced by former Minor Threat/Dag Nasty guitarist Brian Baker and Bad Religion recorded three more albums without him. He returned to the band in 2001, the line-up consisting of Greg Graffin (vocals), Gurewitz, Hetson, Baker (all on guitar), Jay Bentley (bass) and Brooks Wackerman (drums).

In April 2013, Hetson stopped touring with Bad Religion, supposedly due to divorce, and after briefly playing as a four-piece band, Bad Religion recruited Mike Dimkich of The Cult to fill in for Hetson. Bassist Jay Bentley released the following statement: "Greg Hetson is dealing with some personal issues, if he wishes to make a statement we will support that, if he chooses not to we will support that. Mike Dimkich is indeed helping us out right now, and we are genuinely appreciative. Right now we are just looking forward and getting ready to play our shows." In January 2014, Bentley confirmed that Dimkich is an official member of Bad Religion, meaning that Hetson is no longer a member of the band. In April 2014, Hetson tweeted that he is no longer in Bad Religion.

Punk Rock Karaoke

Hetson plays guitar in the all star band Punk Rock Karaoke with Eric Melvin of NOFX, and Steve Soto of The Adolescents, Stan Lee of The Dickies and original Goldfinger drummer Darrin Pfeiffer. Other notable past and recurring members have included Bob Mothersbaugh of Devo, and Mike Watt of MinutemenIggy and the Stooges. It was the first interactive live Punk Karaoke band since 1996. The band released DVD/CD set on MVD which has "sing along with" videos as well as a covers album featuring singers such as Matt SkibaDave King and Mike Herrera.

New Musical Project

Hetson is currently working with Loomis Fall, on a side project which include guests Bobby Alt, Chris Vrenna, Christopher Chartrand and engineered by Josh Achziger. No release date available.
