Matthias Hues nasceu em 14/02/1959, na cidade de Waltrop, estado de Renânia do Norte-Vestfália, Alemanha, e está radicado na cidade de Los Angeles, estado da Califórnia, EUA.

Matthias Hues fez sua estreia no cinema com DRAGNET - LOS ANGELES POLICE (1987), interpretando um Fisiculturista em Muscle Beach. O filme teve como protagonistas Dan Aykroyd e Tom Hanks.

Matthias Hues foi convidado para substituir o ator Jean-Claude Van Damme no filme NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER 2: RAGING THUNDER (1987) ou em português “Retroceder Nunca, Render-se Jamais 2” interpretando Yuri. O filme teve como protagonistas Loren Avedon, Max Thayer e Cynthia Rothrock.

Matthias Hues foi destaque no filme STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY (1991) ou em português “Jornada nas Estrelas VI: A Terra Desconhecida” interpretando o Segundo General Klingon. O filme teve como protagonistas William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy e DeForest Kelley. A distribuidora Paramount convocou Nicholas Meyer para dirigir e co-escrever a nova aventura, o que devolveu a franquia de volta ao sucesso mundial.
