Mick Michaels is an American guitar player, songwriter and producer primarily with the traditional Heavy Metal band Corners of Sanctuary (COS). COS has toured throughout the US, Europe and the UK and has worked with many notable and national artists.
Since 2017, Michaels has conducted regular artist interviews via his blog website, The Cosmick View. Most recently, Michaels was part of the multi-artist COVID coalition, Hear 'n Now, which he wrote and produced the song "No Road to Ruin."
CORNERS OF SANCTUARY (COS)
Hailing from Philadelphia, New Wave of Traditional American Heavy Metal band Corners of Sanctuary (COS) formed in 2011 with a desire to bring back the sounds of Classic Heavy Metal.
2012 marked the release of their debut album “Breakout”. Being well received, “Breakout” was quickly followed up by “Harlequin”, which released in 2013 with Pure Steel Records in Germany. Later that same year, their third album “Axe to Grind” released under La Mazakuata Records in Mexico. In 2014, Pure Steel Records re-released “Axe to Grind” in Europe. In 2015, COS signed with Metalizer Records in Germany for the release of the fourth full-length album “Metal Machine”. Mastered by Death Dealer guitarist and producer Stu “The Hammer” Marshall, “Metal Machine” was met with critical acclaim worldwide.
Corners of Sanctuary has performed with many notable artists including: Saxon, Anvil, Stryper, U.D.O., Butcher Babies, Grim Reaper, Saving Abel, Tim “Ripper” Owens, Tracii Guns, David Shankle (DSG, Manowar), Tantric, Joey Belladonna, Black Lodge, Don Jamieson, Marc Rizzo of Soulfly, Green Jello, Act of Defiance, Britny Fox, Bulletboys and Damon Johnson among others.
In 2016, “Declaration of Metal”, a best of compilation released. Earlier in 2017 the band dropped a new EP titled “Cut Your Losses” and continued to tour supporting their unique brand of Metal. Summer 2017 the band released the single “Dreams” and the follow up single “Burn”.
In 2018 COS released their fifth album “The Galloping Hordes” l on Killer Metal Records. The album was mastered by legendary producer Bill Metoyer (Slayer, W.A.S.P., Armored Saint, Fates Warning). 2018 alos had COS completing a tour in Europe and a second US West Coast tour. The band has begun work on their next album “Heroes Never Die,” slated to release in 2020. In 2019 COS has supported Bulletboys, Grim Reaper, Blaze Bayley, Last in Line, Janet Gardner and the Iron Maidens and performed at the legendary Whiskey A Go-Go.
Before 2019 came to a close, COS released three EPs: “Hold onto Christmas,” “Metal Briage” (7” vinyl) and “What We Leave Behind.”
2020 has already started out with a bang as the band heads to the UK for its first tour in March along with the release of a new EP, “For COS and Country” with new singer Stacey Lee.
